The refresh floors the plan to the hour, so on the 15-minute feed it keeps the elapsed periods of the current hour, and the plan also ages between refreshes. The verdict took the cheapest/dearest over all of them, so with modes off it could aim at a period that was over and do nothing; with modes on allowed() could be open because of one.
TariffPlan.arbitrage(now=...) now drops points with end <= now (the _cover_table span, as priceruns.firm_slots does). arbitrage.decide(), the modes-on gate in Controller._mode_roles() and homeview.trade_verdict() pass their own now. Hourly feeds and the static tariff give the same verdict as before. F2 and F3 are not touched.
Strings: the idle sentence and the charge/discharge/refusal sentences in arbitrage.py say "price period" instead of "hour" (English only, status row and action log).
Tests: new test_price02.py; test_arbitrage.py rolls its whole-day plans to start at now; test_modes_p3.py part 1 digests now leave the trade sentence out (commands identical on 7a00f12, 90bc901 and this tree). DECISIONS/PRICE-02-the-verdict-skips-ended-periods.md.

TariffPlan.arbitrage(now=...) drops the points whose period has ended
(end <= now), so the cheapest and dearest point can still be traded.
decide() (modes off), the modes-on allowed() gate and the Home verdict
all pass their own now. Hourly feeds and the static tariff are unchanged.
The off-peak sentence and the charge/discharge sentences say "price
period". Tests: test_price02.py; test_arbitrage.py rolls its whole-day
plans to start at now; test_modes_p3.py part 1 digests leave the trade
sentence out (commands unchanged on 7a00f12, 90bc901 and this tree).

test_price_run_fixes.py part 5 and test_modes_p3.py part 1 compare the modes-off
replay with digests printed on older trees. The trade sentence now says
"price period", and a sale quotes another "above the cheapest" figure once the
first cheap period is over. ident.trade_digest() hides exactly those two
things; re-measured on e3e4ba6, 7a00f12, 90bc901 and this tree, the digests
are the same, so every command is unchanged.
Co-Authored-By: Claude <noreply@anthropic.com>
- TariffPlan.arbitrage(now=...) is required (keyword-only, no default); so are
homeview.trade_verdict/refusal_key's now. Existing test calls pass one.
- test_arbitrage.py: no module-level decide wrapper. Fixtures that probed a
one-day plan after its extremes now hold two days (as a site does); the
flap day gets a unique cheapest and dearest hour; the replay breaks its
ties without direction. The flap bound is <= 4 and the replay check is
len(_trades) < 365 again. 228 checks pass on the old and the new code.
- test_price02.py part 6: ties (equal quarters, a real 15-minute day,
alternating hourly prices) and the required now.
- Identity pins: the masked digest is only for the older-tree comparison;
this tree's own digests are pinned with nothing hidden.
- DECISIONS: the tie analysis with numbers.

PRICE-02 review (head 891ed7bdd7): not merged, owner decision needed
The code fix is correct and sits in one place. It is not merged because of one undisclosed behaviour change: on a fixed (static) tariff and on hourly feeds, the commands are not identical to release/1.0 once the 30-minute price refresh is not on the hour, which is the normal case. The change is an improvement, but the card, the DECISIONS note and the dev report all say the commands are unchanged, so the owner should accept it first.
For the owner: does a real day-ahead day switch charge/discharge more often?
No. I re-measured on 16 real Belgian 15-minute days (2026-09-02 to 09-17), with a decision every minute and 8 variants (refresh on the hour or 10 minutes past it, battery level fixed or modelled, tomorrow's prices known always or only from 13:00):
On/off changes go down in every variant, for example 78 -> 68, 88 -> 70, and 92 -> 72 with the battery modelled.
Charge-to-discharge reversals are unchanged: 10 -> 10 and 13 -> 13.
Charge starts and discharge starts are the same or fewer.
The dev's figures for 09-09/10 reproduce exactly: 24 -> 24 changes, 14 -> 26 acting periods.
What grows is how long it trades. Time spent charging or discharging is about 1.5 to 2.5 times longer, and the energy moved through a modelled 10 kWh battery rises from 27.5 to 42.6 kWh over 16 days. The reason: once the cheapest 15-minute period has passed, the next cheapest one still ahead becomes the target, as long as its spread still clears the threshold. So: fewer switches, longer trades, more battery cycling.
Findings
MEDIUM: static and hourly commands do change when the refresh is not on the hour. Files: static_tariff.py:1078-1079, DECISIONS PRICE-02-the-verdict-skips-ended-periods.md:18-19,29-30, test_price02.py:211-229.
The plan is rebuilt every TARIFF_REFRESH_S (1800 s) counted from add-on start (main.py:6408ff), not from the top of the hour. So between hh:00 and the next refresh, the plan still holds the hour that just ended.
On a day/night tariff all day hours tie. Base takes the first one, which is the ended hour, so it pauses the trade from hh:00 until the next refresh. The head drops that hour, so the trade continues.

The modes-off replay (opt11p3 harness, n1/n2) with the static plan rebuilt 20 minutes off the hour shows the commands digest differs: base 79f06d6381ff3358 vs head 18de19d9fe919fe5. With the refresh on the hour it is identical.
test_price02.py part 3 says the plan is "built from the current hour, as main.py does", but main.py does not do that. The dev's static replay also refreshed on the hour.
This is F1 applied to hourly points, and the card's item 2 asks for it ("a plan built at 03:00 and used at 03:20 must not still aim at 03:00"). It conflicts with item 3 ("behave exactly as today"). In my view it is the right behaviour, because the trade stops flapping every hour. But it is a behaviour change on static sites that nobody announced.
Needs: the owner accepts it; DECISIONS and the dev report say it; part 3 tests a plan built off the hour (for example at 13:40, used at 14:05).
MEDIUM-LOW: the real-year AC4 figure in test_arbitrage.py dropped from 110 to 4 round trips and nobody flagged it. File: test_arbitrage.py:2086-2122 (replay_real), checks at :2134 and :2152.
Base prints "+24.88 EUR over 110 round trips". The head prints "+2.88 EUR over 4 round trips", and the check still passes.
The cause is the fixture: one plan per calendar day, used all day, with no tomorrow prices. After the cheap hour passes, nothing cheap is left ahead.
On a production-like plan (from the current hour, tomorrow's prices from 13:00), base and head are identical in my approximation (51 trips, +13.81 EUR). So the code is not the problem. Neither the old figure nor the new one describes a real site.
The dev report calls this "only numbers in the replay lines differ". It is the headline economics figure.
Fix (test only): build replay_real's plan as production does, or state in the printed report that the figure is a fixture artifact.
LOW: test gaps (mutations that survived).
end >= now instead of end > now, in static_tariff.py:1078 and in homeview.py:295: the boundary instant is never probed. It is harmless in practice, because now carries microseconds and at() already returns the next period.
homeview.build_plan() passing a floored now to trade_verdict (homeview.py:610): no test drives the Home page path. test_price02 calls trade_verdict directly.
LOW: refusal text when every point has ended (static_tariff.py:1080-1094). It reads "only 0 of 0 points carry a published price ... and the rest are provisional", which is not true there. It is unreachable in practice: a fresh plan is at most 90 minutes old and reaches past midnight. No crash and no action follow.
INFO: text.
The changed sentences are true, and the idle one is short and plain: "now is not the cheapest or the dearest price period" (UX-08: 15-minute period / price period, fine for hourly too).
The idle sentence is shown to the home owner. It appears in the Arbitrage status row on the add-on page ("On, decided N s ago: arbitrage idle - ..."), in English also on Dutch pages.
This is not new: no strategy sentence in that row has ever had Dutch. It is worth a UX card for a Dutch twin of the common idle and trade sentences. The §-sentences are technical and stay in the log.
Checks that passed
Callers: all three readers of the verdict pass the cycle's own now: arbitrage.decide() (main.py:4913), _mode_roles()allowed() (main.py:2369), and homeview.trade_verdict()/refusal_key() (homeview.py:610). Every app-code now is datetime.now(timezone.utc). now is now required with no default on all three, which is right: an optional now would let a future caller bring the defect back silently. I found no other app-code reader of the verdict. cheap_now() (maintenance, F2 area) and priceruns do not use it.
Edge cases:
Exactly at 03:15:00 the 03:00 period is dropped and decide() charges at 03:15.
UTC and Brussels now give the same verdict.
A plan where every point has ended is refused: no crash, no action, refusal key not_firm.
DST night 2026-10-25: the two 02:15 periods are told apart.
A still-current hourly point stays in at :00, :59 and :59:59.
A static plan over 4 days, including the DST night, refreshed on the hour: the verdict is the same at 384 of 384 instants.
F2/F3 are untouched.
Test honesty:
_transitions <= 4 and len(_trades) < 365 are restored.
The head test_arbitrage.py, with now= stripped, passes 228/228 on 90bc901. The only check lines that differ are the AC4 real-year numbers (finding above).
The tie rule (first extreme still ahead) is tested (part 6), and mutation M12 is caught.
trade_digest() maps only the sentence (r[-1][2]). Action and watts are hashed unchanged, and each tree's own unmasked digests are pinned.
Commands with price off: byte-identical to base (n1, n2, sentence included).
Mutations:
Dev's M1, M2, M5 and M11 are caught.
Mine: R2 (decide() passes now floored to the hour) is caught. R1/R4 (>=) and R3 (Home caller) survive, see above.
Full suite: 82 of 82 test files PASS on 891ed7b in goodwe-addon-checks:1 (--network none, PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE=1, GOODWE_REQUIRE_HWSIM=1, --user, sim at the infra pin 3b4ff84 mounted).

What would make it mergeable
The owner accepts the static/hourly change above, or says otherwise.
A short round 3, docs and tests only: fix the DECISIONS sentences and the dev-report claim; add a part 3 case with a plan built off the hour; make the AC4 real-year replay production-like (or label its figure); optionally probe the exact boundary and drive build_plan().
No code change is needed in my view.

The production-shaped plan sees tomorrow from 13:00, so most buys are sold
the next day or later. The ledger forgot the open buy at each midnight and
booked 46 of 51 sales as holdings: 5 trips, +1.21 EUR. Carried over, the
same decisions give 51 trips, +13.81 EUR, all clearing the threshold.
Decisions are unchanged and identical on the old and new verdict. No
assertion changed.

Checks
App code unchanged: PASS.git diff 891ed7b..3dd4dd8 -- goodwe_controller/app is 0 bytes, so my earlier code verdict still holds.
DECISIONS note: PASS, one wording fix. It states the hourly/static change (91 -> 4 on day/night, refresh at :10), the owner's acceptance, the static digests and the throughput finding. Everything it says was measured. The fix: 27.5 -> 42.6 kWh comes from one of the four modelled variants, but the sentence read as if it covered all of them. It now names that variant and gives the range of the other three (fixed in 6b2d009).
New tests 3b, 3c, 4b: PASS. All of R1, R3, R4, R5 and R6 fail test_price02.py on purged copies of the head, and so do my own R7 and R8 (table below).
Real-year replay: plan PASS, ledger finding (fixed). The plans are built the way production builds them. On those plans the old and new verdicts take the same 247 actions (identical lists, checked). The difference between the dev's figure and mine is only how the result is counted (see below). No assertion changed.
Offline suite: PASS. 82/82 on 3dd4dd8 in goodwe-addon-checks:1 (--network none, PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE=1, GOODWE_REQUIRE_HWSIM=1, --user, sim at pin 3b4ff84). test_freeze PASS.
Why 5 trips / +1.21 EUR vs 51 trips / +13.81 EUR
The battery makes the same decisions in both runs. The only difference is the bookkeeping. replay_real cleared the open buy at every midnight. Once tomorrow's prices are known (from 13:00), the battery usually buys in the afternoon and sells the next evening, sometimes days later. So 46 of the 51 buy-then-sell pairs cross midnight. The test lost the buy at midnight and counted those 46 sales as "sold with no buy". My earlier simulation kept the buy, which gives 51 trips and +13.81 EUR. All 51 clear the 0.10 threshold. Fix (6b2d009): the open buy is now kept over midnight. The test now prints 51 trips, +13.81 EUR. With the old fixture (one plan per day, no tomorrow) a pair never crossed midnight, so the reset was harmless until round 3.

Findings
LOW (fixed in 6b2d009): test_arbitrage.py:2101: open_buy = None inside the day loop booked 46 of the 51 real-year round trips as holdings. The printed AC4 figure (5 trips, +1.21 EUR) described the bookkeeping, not the decisions.

Reviewed `3dd4dd89e025a821e854e853e182942061e96d1e` (Router T93 PASS). I pushed one test-and-text commit on top: `6b2d0091d6ead5b376b80d0afa654e3e5d50942b`.
### Checks
1. **App code unchanged: PASS.** `git diff 891ed7b..3dd4dd8 -- goodwe_controller/app` is 0 bytes, so my earlier code verdict still holds.
2. **DECISIONS note: PASS, one wording fix.** It states the hourly/static change (91 -> 4 on day/night, refresh at :10), the owner's acceptance, the static digests and the throughput finding. Everything it says was measured. The fix: 27.5 -> 42.6 kWh comes from one of the four modelled variants, but the sentence read as if it covered all of them. It now names that variant and gives the range of the other three (fixed in 6b2d009).
3. **New tests 3b, 3c, 4b: PASS.** All of R1, R3, R4, R5 and R6 fail `test_price02.py` on purged copies of the head, and so do my own R7 and R8 (table below).
4. **Real-year replay: plan PASS, ledger finding (fixed).** The plans are built the way production builds them. On those plans the old and new verdicts take the same 247 actions (identical lists, checked). The difference between the dev's figure and mine is only how the result is counted (see below). No assertion changed.
5. **Offline suite: PASS.** 82/82 on 3dd4dd8 in `goodwe-addon-checks:1` (`--network none`, `PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE=1`, `GOODWE_REQUIRE_HWSIM=1`, `--user`, sim at pin 3b4ff84). `test_freeze` PASS.
### Why 5 trips / +1.21 EUR vs 51 trips / +13.81 EUR
The battery makes the same decisions in both runs. The only difference is the bookkeeping. `replay_real` cleared the open buy at every midnight.
### Mutations (purged copies of 3dd4dd8)
| # | mutation | result |
|---|---|---|
| R1 | `end >= now` in `TariffPlan.arbitrage` (static_tariff.py:1078) | caught, 3 checks (3b 14:00 hour, 3c 03:15:00, 3c 04:00:00) |
| R3 | `build_plan()` passes `now` floored to the hour (homeview.py:610) | caught (4b at 03:20) |
| R4 | `end >= now` in `refusal_key` (homeview.py:295) | caught (3c refusal key) |
| R5 | hourly points keep their ended hour | caught, 5 checks (3b, part 3) |
| R6 | `build_plan()` passes `now` 20 min stale | caught (4b at 03:20) |
| R7 (own) | filter on `start >= now` (drops the period in progress) | caught, 29 checks (test_price02, test_arbitrage) |
| R8 (own) | a period dropped 1 s before its end | caught (3c, one microsecond before the end) |
### Findings
- **LOW (fixed in 6b2d009):** test_arbitrage.py:2101: `open_buy = None` inside the day loop booked 46 of the 51 real-year round trips as holdings. The printed AC4 figure (5 trips, +1.21 EUR) described the bookkeeping, not the decisions.
- **INFO (fixed in 6b2d009):** DECISIONS note :83-85: the kWh figure is now tied to its variant.
- Earlier findings 1-3 are resolved. Findings 4 and 5 moved to UX-52.

The refresh floors the plan to the hour, so on the 15-minute feed it keeps the elapsed periods of the current hour, and the plan also ages between refreshes. The verdict took the cheapest/dearest over all of them, so with modes off it could aim at a period that was over and do nothing; with modes on
allowed()could be open because of one.TariffPlan.arbitrage(now=...)now drops points withend <= now(the_cover_tablespan, aspriceruns.firm_slotsdoes).arbitrage.decide(), the modes-on gate inController._mode_roles()andhomeview.trade_verdict()pass their ownnow. Hourly feeds and the static tariff give the same verdict as before. F2 and F3 are not touched.Strings: the idle sentence and the charge/discharge/refusal sentences in arbitrage.py say "price period" instead of "hour" (English only, status row and action log).

PRICE-02 review (head
891ed7bdd7): not merged, owner decision neededThe code fix is correct and sits in one place.
The dev's figures for 09-09/10 reproduce exactly: 24 -> 24 changes, 14 -> 26 acting periods.
Files:
static_tariff.py:1078-1079, DECISIONSPRICE-02-the-verdict-skips-ended-periods.md:18-19,29-30,test_price02.py:211-229.TARIFF_REFRESH_S(1800 s) counted from add-on start (main.py:6408ff), not from the top of the hour. So between hh:00 and the next refresh, the plan still holds the hour that just ended.test_price02.pypart 3 says the plan is "built from the current hour, as main.py does", but main.py does not do that. The dev's static replay also refreshed on the hour.MEDIUM-LOW: the real-year AC4 figure in
test_arbitrage.pydropped from 110 to 4 round trips and nobody flagged it. File:test_arbitrage.py:2086-2122(replay_real), checks at :2134 and :2152.replay_real's plan as production does, or state in the printed report that the figure is a fixture artifact.LOW: test gaps (mutations that survived).
end >= nowinstead ofend > now, instatic_tariff.py:1078and inhomeview.py:295: the boundary instant is never probed. It is harmless in practice, becausenowcarries microseconds andat()already returns the next period.homeview.build_plan()passing a floorednowtotrade_verdict(homeview.py:610): no test drives the Home page path.test_price02callstrade_verdictdirectly.LOW: refusal text when every point has ended (
static_tariff.py:1080-1094). It reads "only 0 of 0 points carry a published price ... and the rest are provisional", which is not true there. It is unreachable in practice: a fresh plan is at most 90 minutes old and reaches past midnight. No crash and no action follow.INFO: text.
